This is one of the oldest estates in the Médoc, created in 1662. The estate belonged to the Luetkens family for several generations and was then taken over by Mr. Désiré Cordier in 1919. In 2004, CA Grands Crus, a subsidiary of the Groupe Crédit Agricole, acquired Château Meyney. Determined to take this excellent cru to the top of its potential. An improvement plan has been drawn up for the entire estate. It is supervised today by Anne Le Naour, the technical director, and the advisor-oenologist, Hubert de Bouärd.

Beautifully perched on a hill overlooking the Gironde estuary, the Château is located in the middle of a 51-hectare vineyard block. A number of vineyards are even located directly on the estuary. Here is a remarkable plot, where the drainage is less good. Planted with petit verdot, 70-year-old vines. This plot has a relatively large share in the final Grand Vin, with spiciness, pepper and something animal.

The vines have an average age of 35 to 40 years, divided between 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot. The vineyard is planted on Garonne gravel. As with Pétrus, a layer of blue clay about 3 meters thick lies at a depth of 2.6 meters below the surface. These remarkable natural factors give the wine an exceptional richness without being heavy. Great gourmet wines that are surprisingly elegant for their richness and structure!
