Pierre-Vincent Girardin is the 13th generation of his family to make wine in Burgundy. He grew up learning in the basement of his father, Vincent Girardin, from an early age. When the oldest Girardin sold his domain in 2011, he made sure to keep 4.5 acres of his best sites to ever pass on to his son.

In 2017, Pierre-Vincent made his first vintage and announced himself as an emerging talent in Burgundy. Thanks to his father's extensive contacts in Burgundy, Pierre-Vincent was able to supplement his domaine vineyards through long-term contracts with top growers who maintain his rigorous wine-growing philosophy. Together it represents a portfolio of terroir rarely seen under one roof, including rare locations like Puligny Folatières at the village level (Lalou Bize-Leroy bottles the only other plot from this part of Folatières), Volnay Clos des Chênes, Pommard Epenots, Corton and even Montrachet himself. To make white wines with the purity, cut and precision he desires, Pierre-Vincent ordered custom 456L barrels from Francois Freres to reduce the amount of new wood influence. For the red wines, they are all made with elegance and silky smoothness in mind, and emphasize the extraordinary terroir with which Pierre works. This means a long and gentle press, followed by little to no pigeage uncured and unfiltered bottling. In the many years that Skurnik has worked with some of the top talent in Burgundy, it is rare for a producer's first vintage to arrive with such a clear and definitive voice. As Pierre explains, he learned from and helped his father in the basement from the moment he could walk. His best childhood memories include chasing the tractor through the vineyards and being near the barrels while his father worked. Simply put, Burgundy is in his blood.
