Clos Fourtet ligt recht tegenover de grote kerk van Saint-Emilion. Het terroir bestaat uit een klei-leemgrond met veel kalk. De oogst gebeurt handmatig en zoals bij alle grote huizen vindt de eerste selectie plaats in de wijngaard. De Clos Fourtet is een blend van overwegend Merlot met een klein percentage van zowel Cabernet Franc als Cabernet Sauvignon en heeft 16 maanden gerijpt in 60 jaar. % nieuwe en 40% tweedejaars barriques van Frans eikenhout.
De Clos Fourtet is diep granaatpaars gekleurd en opent na verloop van tijd met tonen van bramen, pruimen en wilde bosbessen, plus tonen van bosbodem, lavendel, bakkruiden en potpourri. De smaak is vol en heeft een verbazingwekkende textuur van zachte, zachte tannines en veel frisheid die lang en geurig eindigt met bessen/kruiden en wat mineraliteit.

The 2023 Clos Fourtet is especially suave and refined this year, wafting from the glass with deep aromas of red berries, licorice, violets and pencil shavings, framed by a nicely integrated patina of new oak. Medium to full-bodied, supple and layered, with a velvety attack that segues into a bright, precise mid-palate, it's pure and lively, concluding with a mineral finish.
