Bertrand Machard de Gramont

Domaine Bertrand Machard de Gramont – also known as Domaine Axelle Marchard de Gramont, or just Axelle is a great house from Burgundy which operates (certified) organic. Domaine Bertrand Machard de Gramont is a relatively small estate from Nuits-Saint-Georges. It has a total of six hectares, mainly located in the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation, but also with plots in Vosne-Romanée and Vergy. The domain has family ties with the Machard de Gramont estate in Premeaux and the Chantal Lescure estate in Nuits-Saint-Georges. It was founded in 1983 by Bertrand Machard de Gramont (father of Axelle) when his family estate was divided into three parts. Bertrand had worked on the family estate until then after a time at Domaine de Vogüé in Chambolle-Musigny, under the direction of Alain Roumier, the old director there. Axelle Machard de Gramont returned to Burgundy in 2004 to take on the vigneronne challenge. She now runs the estate, with the support of her father.
