Looking for a fresh, elegant, and festive sparkling wine? Then Prosecco is the perfect choice. This popular Italian bubbly is known for its light and fruity style, making it ideal for both everyday enjoyment and special occasions. At Grandcruwijnen, you'll find a carefully selected range of the finest Prosecco wines – from approachable DOC Proseccos to refined DOCG Prosecco Superiore from the heart of Veneto.

What Is Prosecco?

Prosecco is a sparkling wine from northeastern Italy, mainly produced in the regions of Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia. The wine is made from the Glera grape and is available in different styles, from lightly sparkling Frizzante to fully sparkling Spumante. With its crisp acidity, aromas of apple, pear, and white blossom, and its soft character, Prosecco is an accessible and versatile wine.

Different Types of Prosecco

Not all Proseccos are the same. Within the appellation, there are distinct quality levels:

- Prosecco DOC: The standard version, produced in a broad area. Fresh, fruity, and easy-drinking.
- Prosecco Superiore DOCG: From the hills of Conegliano-Valdobbiadene or Asolo, with stricter quality regulations, hand harvesting, and often greater complexity and elegance.
- Conegliano-Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG: This is the most prestigious production area, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its steep vineyards, limestone-rich soils, and artisanal winemaking yield refined, aromatic Proseccos with depth and balance.

Extra Dry, Brut, or Demi-Sec? Pay attention to the sugar level. Extra Dry is slightly softer than Brut, which is often preferred for a drier style.
