How does this wine taste?

How full and heavy the wine feels in your mouth, like the difference between skimmed milk and cream. More alcohol, sugar and oak ageing make a wine fuller.

The drying, grippy feel on your gums and tongue, as with strong tea. It comes from the skins and seeds of black grapes and from oak, and softens with age.

How much sugar you taste, from dry to sweet. Fruity is not the same as sweet: a dry wine can taste of ripe fruit.

How fresh and juicy the wine is: acidity makes your mouth water. High acidity tastes lively and refreshing, low acidity soft and round.

Félix Solís Avantis is one of the largest family wineries in Spain and was founded in 1952 in the DO Valdepeñas, for a long time the main road to Madrid. The winery was founded at the time with the most modern and extensive production facilities. Over the years it has expanded to a production area of 120,000 m2. They make wines under many famous labels, such as Casa Albali and San Juan.

"The Kingpin rules his realm with firm authority. He is lured out of the shadows by the seductive charms of this wine. Behind his frenzied power, the Kingpin actually turns out to be very laid-back. In this wine, the Kingpin finds his match."

The Solís Kingpin Tinto is a Spanish fresh red wine and is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Tempranillo from vineyards from Castilla-La Mancha. The grapes ferment for about 10-14 days in stainless steel tanks, at a controlled temperature. The wine is aged for 3 months in American oak barrels. In the glass the wine has a ruby red color with beautiful aromas of berries, cherries, ripe plums in the nose. The wine is very accessible, not too heavy and nice and fruity and juicy with lots of fruit and notes of vanilla and chocolate. Delicious as a standalone glass (we like to drink this wine at around 15-16 degrees, so fractionally cooler). The wine is also recommended with lamb dishes, cheeses and especially blue cheeses.
