Questions about ordering

Do I have to create an account to order wines?

Is this your first time placing an order with us? If it is, you need to create an account with us so that we where to deliver your order. When you create an account with us, we save the information for the next time you place an order. You can also choose to log in via your Facebook, Google, or Twitter account. If you are registered, you can use 'My Wishlist' and save up for Loyalty points.

You also have the option to make a guest order. All you have to do then is enter the details for the specific order. Nothing will stay stored in our system. The downside, however, is that you will not receive any of the advantages that our registered customers have, such as a personal wine cellar and the automatic discount you can get on your orders.

It is important to notice that we only sell products containing alcohol to adults above the age of 18.

Do I need an account for discount or coupon codes?

Yes, you need an account to redeem discount codes. We have various discount coupons, such as our summer coupons that we regularly but randomly send to our customers, the Missed campaign, and other campaigns. We can only send these coupon codes to customers who are registered on the website. You can only redeem the coupon codes if you have an account with us because the discounts cannot be linked to guest orders.
Signing up for our newsletter allows you to receive these discount codes.

How can I place an order?

At Grandcruwijnen you can easily and swiftly navigate our webshop to place an order or you can simply reach out to us by phone. On the webpage 'Ordering' you can find all the required information to place an order.

How do you pack all these beautiful wines?

At Grandcruwijnen, we have special boxes made for our fine wines and distilled products. The cardboard boxes that you can see in the picture below are made of thicker material, and although they are more expensive than regular boxes, it is worth it! Our breakage/damage percentage is significantly lower than others, and we also use special layers inside to keep your wines safe wherever their destination may be. By using this, we prevent the wine from moving and bouncing around in the back of a truck. In addition, we would like to mention that we reuse all of our existing cardboard (wine boxes, leftover material from us, or companies in our area, etc.) and turn it into packaging mats by using a special shredder. It helps protect the wine and spirits, as well as being great for the environment. Perhaps also a consideration in the choice of your supplier.

Is there an age check, and is there an ID requirement?

At Grandcruwijnen, we stand for responsible enjoyment. We want adults to enjoy moments with a nice glass of wine, responsibly. Better to drink less, but with a nicer wine is our motto. Grandcruwijnen does not sell alcoholic beverages to young people under the age of 18. We only sell beverages to buyers aged 18 and over.

As of June 2021, the same rules apply to the online sale of alcohol as physical. We operate Sustainably, and we have taken our social responsibility much earlier and deliver more than 90% with an age check (not all delivery services have arranged this). We perform the age check on all deliveries of packages containing alcohol. However, if several packages are delivered to one address, the ID check will take place once. Delivery drivers ask customers to show their ID to verify that the customer is 18 years or older. Due to the current corona measures, the customer can hold the ID himself and show it to the delivery person remotely or put it down in front of the person. If the package is delivered to the neighbors, the recipient has to be of the minimum age. If identification is not possible and the recipient is younger than 18, the package will be returned, and the resending will be charged at the customer's request at current costs.

Responsible alcohol use

At Grandcruwijnen, we stand for responsible enjoyment. We want adults to enjoy moments with a nice glass, but responsibly. Better to drink less, but with a nice wine, is our motto.

Grandcruwijnen does not sell alcoholic beverages to people under the age of 18. We only sell beverages to buyers aged 18 and over. Not only because this is prohibited by law, but also because young people should not drink alcohol. When purchasing alcohol, our employees ask for identification from all people under the age of 25. Are you estimated to be younger than 25 in the store, but you are older? Take it as a compliment!

New regulations were introduced as of June 2021. When ordering online, you must confirm that you are over 18 years, and upon delivery, you must present your identification.

In addition to the identification obligation when ordering and receiving it, simply leaving wines at a front door is no longer possible. It is also important to mention that if you choose a different delivery address (for example, sending a gift), the recipient must show ID to the delivery person. So keep this in mind, and perhaps it is good to inform the recipient about this in advance (you could forward the Track&Trace you receive to the ultimate recipient and mention that a package will be coming for which 18 plus control is necessary).

The website is in dutch - how can i order?

Via the language selector you can change the language in English. The whole ordering process (checkout, etc) and the front end will be in english.

Given the large amount of wines the information on the wines itself is unfortunately still in dutch. If you need help don't worry because we do speak English and German.

What is the minimum order quantity?

There is no minimum order quantity at Grandcruwijnen. We break the trends of box sales, and unlike many other (internet) wine merchants, you buy the wine by the bottle. This way, you are able to try different wines.

What should I do when there is no stock left of a wine I would like to purchase?

We attempt to make our stock numbers on the website as accurate as possible meaning we can process your order more swiftly making your waiting time minimal. If a wine is not in stock but you are able to place an order this means we are able to get these wines from the winery in a short period of time. Thus you can order a wine and eventhough we might not have it in stock we would immediately contact the winery and make sure your order can be shipped as soon as possible. 

You are also given the option to be notified of when the wine is back in stock. If you would rather have this than place an order upfront you can click the link "Sign up to get notified when this product is back in stock".

We are seeing your wines on Winebuyers. Are you selling via that platform?

We are not selling our wines via Winebuyers platform. We have done this in the paste but they have proven to be unreliable to us and their customers. They are still using a very outdated feed from us so you might have the impression that the wines are still available but this is NOT true. We are not accepting order which are coming via the Winebuyers platform.
