Do I have to create an account to order wines?

Is this your first time placing an order with us? If it is, you need to create an account with us so that we where to deliver your order. When you create an account with us, we save the information for the next time you place an order. You can also choose to log in via your Facebook, Google, or Twitter account. If you are registered, you can use 'My Wishlist' and save up for Loyalty points.

You also have the option to make a guest order. All you have to do then is enter the details for the specific order. Nothing will stay stored in our system. The downside, however, is that you will not receive any of the advantages that our registered customers have, such as a personal wine cellar and the automatic discount you can get on your orders.

It is important to notice that we only sell products containing alcohol to adults above the age of 18.

Does Grandcruwijnen have all wines in stock?

Grandcruwijnen has most wines in stock. If the products you ordered are no longer in stock, we will inform you within one working day. We often have the wines back within 1 to 2 days. If you don't want to wait for that, you can opt for an alternative, such as a different vintage or a similar wine. Do you not want to wait, or are you not interested in an alternative wine? Then, of course, you will receive a refund of the already paid purchase amount. We never send another year or an alternative wine without your knowledge, and we will always discuss this with you in advance (often by telephone).

How are the exclusive wines stored at Grandcruwijnen?

Our entire Wine Warehouse is conditioned to keep a constant temperature and humidity in summer and winter. We also focus on being CO2 neutral, so our entire roof is equipped with solar panels. All our windows have foil so that UV-rays have no influence, and we work exclusively with LED lighting so that this does not cause harmful UV light.

Would you like to come by sometime? That's no problem. We are open every working day from 10:00-17:00, and you can find us at Rijksstraatweg 24 in Dordrecht.

How come Grandcruwijnen is able to offer a large number of wines for low prices?

In 2010, Grandcruwijnen developed a logistics model that allows us to import wine to the Netherlands with less channels to go through. The result: Significanlty lower prices and a larger product variety. We have direct connections with large wineries in France, Spain and Italy, which does not go through the intervention of a wholesale. How does Grandcruwijnen arrange excise duties and VAT in Belgium?

How does Grandcruwijnen deliver my order?

We use the service of PostNL or DPD to deliver your order. You will receive your order in sturdy packaging, specially developed for the transport of wine bottles. We state on the checkout page for each delivery service, what the possible costs of delivery are, and until which moment your order will be sent the same day. This varies per delivery service and season, but the following applies as standard:

Is it possible for a photo to not accurately represent the year of the wine in question?

Yes. We always attempt to make our photos represent the wines as accurately as possible. We have an assortment of over 1000 wines of which many have different years. We strive to get the photos of the newest years when we can however quite often it occurs that wineries do not update the photos themselves either because the labels tend not to change apart from the year. In any case the wine presented on the photo may in some cases be a different year but this does not mean you will receive the wine from the photo. You will always get what you order. What does good quality wine mean?

The Wine Advocate is a leading institute founded by Robert Parker. Mr. Parker is the wine guru in the wine world. They taste thousands of wines per year and classify them on a 100-point scale. Wines with more than 90 points, are the A wines. A large part of our range consists of these 90+ wines! If present, we always show the review of Robert Parker with our wines, including the corresponding Parker points. In addition, we try to show the ratings of Decanter, Wine Spectator, Penin and James Suckling.

Which wines can I buy at Grandcruwijnen?

At Grandcruwijnen we have wines for every budget. Regardless of the amount you pay, you are always assured of good quality. We have our in-house vinologist, and we are also continuously assisted by international advisors of the wineries with whom we work closely.

You mention that some wine is produced organically. What does this mean?

At Grandcruwijnen, we have a unique range of organic wines, and we indicate this in the wine specifications. The winemaker explicitly states that he will produce, following the general standards of organic or biodynamic viticulture. So no chemicals, etc. Not all organic wines are certified organic, and it is often the winemaker's choice. Certification can be a lengthy, sometimes bureaucratic process, and rules differ per country (and sometimes even per area). One can decide to grow and produce organically but not see the value of the certificate. For the time being, the top houses do not participate in the certification at all (this does not offer them any added value). We strictly check through multiple channels (so we don't just assume the winemaker's saying) whether the winemaker produces organically or biodynamically and if it is officially certified, we will explicitly report this.

Doet Grandcruwijnen aan Dropshipping?

Nee en dit is een pertinente nee. Grandcruwijnen verkoopt alleen maar vanuit eigen voorraad en om die reden zijn we ook een van de enige die het voorraad-niveau tonen bij een wijn. Supertransparant en eerlijk en om die reden kunnen we ook snel leveren. We willen alleen verkopen wat we hebben en houden ons niet bezig met het proberen de indruk wekken van een fantastisch ruim assortiment (dit hoeven wij niet want wij hebben dit zonder te Dropshippen). Alle wijnen die u vindt op onze website hebben we ook fysiek aanwezig in ons Wine Warehouse en Magazijn te Dordrecht, dus u bent van harte welkom om langs te komen. Deze wijnen liggen ook geconditioneerd (dus koel, geen UV-licht, etc).

Ook belangrijk te vermelden dat wij altijd bij de bron kopen en dit betekent of rechtstreeks bij het wijnhuis (75% van onze aankopen) of bij de officiële importeur van het wijnhuis. Wij zullen nooit via schimmige kanalen wijnen kopen waarvan we de oorsprong niet kunnen herleiden. Dit soort wijnen kunnen soms de hele wereld hebben rondgereisd in oververhitte containers of vrachtwagen en in geval van problemen kunnen we ook nergens op terugvallen. Dit soort wijnen worden vaak voordelig aangeboden, maar geloof ons - dit heeft altijd een reden.
