Questions about features of the website
Can I favorite a wine?
You can mark a wine (on the picture) as a favorite by clicking on the asterisk. Your favorites are automatically placed in "My Wine Cellar" when you are logged in. From the wine cellar, you can easily order this wine or look back at your favorites. It is a very convenient functionality if you are looking through our large selection of wines, and you do not need to place all wines in the shopping cart at once.
Can my loyalty points expire?
The points you have received on an order remain valid for 175 days. You will receive a notification by email two weeks before (part of) your points expires. This way, you are still able to use the discount points in time.
How can I choose a wine that fits my flavor preference out of the huge assortment?
We have categorised our wines in so-called tasting profiles; see it as a DNA profile of the wine in which we classify the wine in elements such as flowery, fruity, wood-aged, tannines, and more — a total of 27 elements with which we filter the DNA profile of a wine. You can make a choice of these tasting profiles based on your personal taste preferences. After that, you can specify your choice further, for example with the suggestions in terms of price range or country of origin, region or grape.
Our suggestion is to first start with a wine sort (red, white, rosé, etc.) and optionally also add a country or region. After that, you can make a choice under the filter Tasting Profiles and the elements below, based on your flavor preference. With each additional selection, your overview will get refined further.

How can I leave a review?
You first have to be logged in with your email address and password. You then click on the wine that you want to leave a review for. You will then see a tab leaf overview on the wine's detail page. If you click on Reviews, you can leave a review about the wine.
As a thank you for the effort, you will automatically receive loyalty points for each review posted, which you can redeem for a discount on an order.
How can I search specifically for a wine?
If you click on "Our wines" at the top of the menu bar and then choose (f.ex) "Wines" you will get a new window with a multitude of filters on the left. You can then select; Country, Region, Price Range, and you can refine our entire file of wines to make your choice. Do not forget to empty the filter if you want to create another cross-section.
If you use the quick-search function (top right) it is best to only use one word.
Is there a newsletter with information, offers, and discount codes?
Yes! In principle, we send a newsletter every Monday morning containing the promotions that apply for that week. In addition, we also inform you through the newsletter when we give masterclasses and tastings (online and physical) and around en-primeur wines (this includes the high-end Bordeaux, Napa Valley, and Italian Super Tuscans). We also frequently send discount codes via the newsletter (free delivery, discount on assortment or a winery, etc.).
Given our wide range, which often includes many scarce allocation wines, anyone who is subscribed to the newsletter can be the first to use an offer, discount code, or register for a tasting, or take advantage of the first-ever discount.
In addition to the newsletter, we also send special offers to our App users. This can be a discount code or a promotion for a specific top wine. Inevitably, you will only receive this notification if you have permitted us to send you a message.
What we never do, is send unbridled daily offers and newsletters that overload you with messages. We do not spam our customers. In principle, we send a newsletter once a week, and the App users receive a message once a week with a specific offer.
Registering is very easy, and on the homepage, you will find the option to register at the bottom of the page and, of course, you can also unsubscribe with one click of a button if you find the information and offers not relevant. Click HERE to register.
The prices shown - are those including VAT?

What are Wine Spectator points?
The Wine Spectator magazine has been read by over 3 million people around the world. The digital publications, apps, and events extend this global reach to more than 6 million wine enthusiasts.
Wine Spectator's tasting staff consists of 15 professional tasters and tasting coordinators. They work together to review more than 16,000 wines each year; more than 400,000 reviews are currently available in the online database, and Grandcruwijnen has a subscription here in which we are entitled to show the reviews in full. Wine Spectator mainly focuses on the American and South American houses and the well-known Italian, Spanish and French houses.
The wines are judged in independent blind tastings, which is the guarantee that our reviews are fair, objective and that a wine's reputation/price will not affect its score. Each taster relates to specific wines and regions; their initials added to their ratings.
In general, we can see that the Wine Spectator often is a bit more critical than Parker and Suckling and consistently tastes everything blind. Wine Spectator does not engage in en-scoop tastings (such as assessing wines that are not released yet). Not every vintage will be rated because the levels of houses being assessed are so high that a rating of a previous vintage is a pretty good indication. For that reason, we also show the most recent assessment of a vintage. It is also possible that there is already a newer vintage that has not (yet) passed the Wine Spectator panel.

What should I do when there is no stock left of a wine I would like to purchase?
We attempt to make our stock numbers on the website as accurate as possible meaning we can process your order more swiftly making your waiting time minimal. If a wine is not in stock but you are able to place an order this means we are able to get these wines from the winery in a short period of time. Thus you can order a wine and eventhough we might not have it in stock we would immediately contact the winery and make sure your order can be shipped as soon as possible.
You are also given the option to be notified of when the wine is back in stock. If you would rather have this than place an order upfront you can click the link "Sign up to get notified when this product is back in stock".
You mention that some wine is produced organically. What does this mean?
At Grandcruwijnen, we have a unique range of organic wines, and we indicate this in the wine specifications. The winemaker explicitly states that he will produce, following the general standards of organic or biodynamic viticulture. So no chemicals, etc. Not all organic wines are certified organic, and it is often the winemaker's choice. Certification can be a lengthy, sometimes bureaucratic process, and rules differ per country (and sometimes even per area). One can decide to grow and produce organically but not see the value of the certificate. For the time being, the top houses do not participate in the certification at all (this does not offer them any added value). We strictly check through multiple channels (so we don't just assume the winemaker's saying) whether the winemaker produces organically or biodynamically and if it is officially certified, we will explicitly report this.
