A quality cream sherry is hard to find but the Juan Piñero Cream Sherry shows how it's done and what a beauty of a dessert wine this is. The sherry is a blend of 75% Palomino Fino and 25% PX aged for 15 to 20 years. This Cream sherry from Bodega Juan Piñero is aged in American oak barrels by the "criadera & solera" system. It displays complex notes of toffee, maple syrup and honey-sweet caramel. In the glass it has a full thickness and an impeccable texture and an enormous freshness that can only be achieved with extremely long aging. The sherry is classically made and is certainly not too sweet and is therefore a great companion to a fruit sorbet or a chocolate mousse. Parker writes in his review: " If you are looking for something decadent at the end of a meal, this is a bargain-priced choice "

Special Interim Issue Report, The Wine Advocate
This non-vintage Juan Piñero Cream Sherry was aged 15-20 years in 600-liter American oak barrels. Fashioned from 75% Palomino Fino and 25% Pedro Ximenez, it exhibits an amber color as well as considerable residual sugar, but it is by no means cloying or overly sweet. It exhibits complex notes of toffee, maple syrup and honeyed caramels, a full-bodied thickness and unctuose texture, and tremendous freshness that can only be achieved with extremely long aging. It is not meant to improve after bottling, so drink it now. If you are looking for something decadent at the end of a meal, this is a bargain-priced choice.

Bodegas Juan Piñero was an Almacenista who sold his wines to bodegas Argüeso and La Gitana. From 2013 they started bottling themselves. They also took over the stocks and old brand Maruja Manzanilla from Bodegas Terry. The bodega is located in the middle of the town of Sanlucar on Calle Trasbolsa near the river Guadalquivir. In order to retain as much taste as possible, the wines are only very visible filtered.
