Anita Kuhnel was a former professional cyclist. With the same drive, she now dedicates all her energy to crafting Beaujolais wines at Domaine Anita. Anita uses only high-quality terroirs for this purpose. She produces wines from the Gamay grape that have already received high scores from renowned critics, including Robert Parker, James Suckling, and Wine Enthusiast. Suckling (96/100) writes of the 2020 Tres Vieille Vigne: "... This Beaujolais masterpiece is so concentrated and so pure, with a lush, velvety sensuality that reminds me of great Pomerol."

The Gamay grapes for this Anita Moulin-à-Vent La Rochelle come from the lieu-dit 'La Rochelle' in the Moulin-à-Vent appellation. This vineyard is situated on pink granite soil, at an altitude of 240 meters, and faces south/southeast. The vines are 50 years old. The grapes are hand-picked and selected in the vineyard. Eighty percent of the grapes are destemmed. During fermentation, the "cap" (the skins that float to the surface) is pressed down daily to extract more flavor and tannins. Fermentation lasts 14 days. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 11 months in oak barrels and then for 5 months in bottle. In the glass, the Moulin-à-Vent Coeur de Vigneronne is a beautiful, radiant ruby red with a purple glow around the rim. On the nose, we smell red cherries, raspberries, lavender, irises, and roses. On the palate, the wine is generous, minerally, and wonderfully fiery, with fresh red fruit complemented by vanilla, mocha, cloves, white pepper, and earth. This is a wonderful wine to pair with a grilled steak or shepherd's pie.

"It is clearly the most extraordinary wine I've ever encountered from Beaujolais and a high point of my 40 years of wine tasting!" - Stuart Pigott on JamesSuckling.com. Domaine Anita has achieved 100 points from James Suckling for the Moulin-à-Vent Coeur de Vigneronne 2022! Anita Neveu has always received high scores, but this is the second time she has received 100 points. It's extra special because it's the first time a Beaujolais wine has received 100 points from one of the leading critics for two years in a row.

The 2024 vintage was only released in October 2025, and no reviews are currently available. Domaine Anita Moulin-à-Vent Coeur de Vigneronne has received scores of 100 and 99 points, respectively, from James Suckling over the past three years.

James Suckling (100/100) over 2022

A totally classic Beaujolais, but this mind-blowing wine also redefines what Beaujolais can be. That starts with how it pulls the white rabbit of mind-blowing freshness and purity out of the hat in this very hot and dry vintage. The depth of the red fruit aromas is off the scale. Enormously concentrated but precise and filigreed, with an almost overwhelming minerality in the almost endless finish. Drink or hold.

Anita Kuhnel used to be a professional cyclist. With the same drive, she now puts all her energy into making Beaujolais wines at Domaine Anita. Anita only uses high-quality terroirs for this. With this she makes wines from the Gamay grape that has already received several high scores from renowned critics, including Robert Parker, James Suckling and Wine Enthusiast.

Anita Kuhnel will retire from cycling in 2015 and will make it her mission to create top Beaujolais. She buys carefully selected terroirs in the crus Moulin-à-Vent, Morgon, Chénas and Fleurie. The de-stalking of grapes and the use of wood give extra depth to her wines. Sulfite use is kept to a minimum. Her wines are particularly rich, concentrated wines that live up to the full potential of Gamay and also have a very good aging potential. Chénas is one of the smallest crus of Beaujolais and therefore a Beaujolais not often seen. The soils contain a lot of granite, which causes the vines to root more deeply. That gives small, concentrated grapes with a lot of taste. Morgon is one of the richest Beaujolais styles. The soils consist of granite and schist, of volcanic origin. With a lot of iron in the soil, the wines have more structure and earthy notes. What is exceptional about Moulin-à-Vent is the high amount of manganese in the granite soils. This manganese limits the yield, making the wines extra concentrated and deeper in taste, with more tannins. It is the fullest of all Beaujolais crus, and can also age very well. In Fleurie, Anita makes the Fleurie Poncié, which stands out for its strong floral, aromatic character.
