Sauvignon Blanc from the Rueda region is hot, and for good reason. The altitude (700-900 meters) creates a good temperature difference between day and night, and the poor, chalky, sandy soils encourage deep rooting, giving the Sauvignon Blanc its own distinct Rueda character. It's not an imitation Loire Valley or New Zealand fruit bomb, but a distinct identity. Casa Rojo La Gabacha is a 100% Sauvignon Blanc from a 10-hectare vineyard planted in 1985 by Aníbal Asensio at an altitude of 800 meters in the Duero River basin, between the villages of Valdestillas and Serrada. The 2022 vintage was a fantastic vintage in the DO RUEDA. The winter was cold and rainy, while the spring was warm, giving way to a hot and dry summer. The grape is perfectly ripe and has achieved a perfect balance of acidity and fruit, along with a moderate alcohol level. Fermentation of the Sauvignon grapes takes place at a low temperature to preserve all the varietal aromas. The wine is then given time to age on its lees (sur lie) for 5-6 months.

In the glass, Casa Rojo La Gabacha is a light straw yellow with golden hues. The nose offers good intensity, with initial tropical notes of mango and pineapple, accompanied by subtle hints of citrus and herbaceous notes. On the palate, the wine is dry, with good acidity that brings freshness, elegance, and balance. An ideal wine for an aperitif and always pairs well with seafood.
