The choice made at Haut-Bailly of sustainable viticulture by preserving an old vineyard takes on its full meaning under extreme conditions. The months of September to November were warm and dry and the harvest started early under ideal conditions. From September 7 to 14 it was the Merlots' turn, and from September 19 to 27 the Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2022 vintage is a blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 5% Petit-Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. The winery, which was inaugurated at the end of 2020, was designed and developed to provide the ultimate response to climate change. The new installations, including cold rooms, a wide variety of barrels for vinification per plot and an underground maturing cellar, allow Haut-Bailly to both preserve and refine the fruit and also create wines that combine power and elegance, density and freshness. This 2022 vintage is a double satisfaction. The satisfaction that they have produced a very good wine and the confidence that we will continue to produce it for years to come.
