2020 Joseph Drouhin Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche Grand Cru

Joseph Drouhin was a daring and enterprising young man from the Chablis region. In 1880, at the age of 22, he settled in Beaune and founded his own winery there. His aim was to offer high-quality wines that would bear his name. With almost 90 different appellations, Joseph Drouhin offers a fascinating range of Burgundian terroirs in all their authenticity and subtle variations. Joseph Drouhin has adopted the organic and biodynamic approach. Only natural products are used in the vineyards and all procedures show the utmost respect for the soil, the vine and the environment. Joseph Drouhin's style is an alliance of character, balance and harmony. Wines intended to be drunk young are fresh and subtle; those intended to be kept acquire a sumptuous complexity with age.

The Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Marquis de Laguiche has a beautiful pale stony yellow colour with a golden hue. It bursts from the glass with aromas of golden orchard fruit, peach, candied citrus, honeycomb and toast as well as light tropical fruit and honeysuckle. Medium to full bodied, opulent and textural, it is satiny smooth with a firm core supported by juicy acidity, and finishes with a beautifully defined finish despite its elegantly sun-drenched profile. The finish lingers for minutes with honey, flint, cream and apples. A dream. You should age this of course, but it is so beautiful now.
