ABOUT DOMAINE HUMBERT FRÈRES
Brothers Emmanuel (Manou) and Frédéric Humbert are the fourth generation of wine producers at the Humbert family estate. They took over the domain from their parents in 1989 and since then they have steadily improved the quality of their wine. Their wines are highly sought after and excel in harmony and balance. . Emmanuel is the dynamic force behind this domain: a thoughtful and passionate man with a great love for wine, food and rugby. Ten years ago, the Humbert brothers switched roles with Manou moving to the winery and Frédéric to the vineyard, and they haven't looked back since. Manou, a larger-than-life, rugby-playing winemaker, brings clear definition to his wines. There is noticeable clarity between the brothers' many terroirs in Fixin and Gevrey-Chambertin, impressive precision indeed................ Read more in the Tab: Wijhuis
ABOUT GEVREY-CHAMBERTIN
Gevrey-Chambertin is the largest wine-producing village in Burgundy's Côte d'Or. Located in the far north of the Côtes de Nuits, the classic style is typically deeper in color, firmer in body and more tannic in structure than most red Burgundies. Although there have been numerous underperformers here in the past, the overall quality is now higher than ever and the best may develop into the most complete and long-lived Pinot Noir in the world.......... On the domain, the emphasis is on manual working methods, including ploughing, green harvesting, if necessary, thinning of leaves and bunches. The grapes undergo a cool maceration of several days before fermentation in temperature-controlled vats. Over-extraction and too firm tannins are always avoided. All wines mature in Burgundy oak barrels from the forests around Châtillon. 50% new oak for all wines, except for the grand cru Charmes-Chambertin, which is aged on 100% new oak.
