2020 Aristocratico Valpolicella Ripasso DOC

The Ripasso from Aristocratico has a ruby red color. On the nose, this Valpolicella Ripasso is very rich with delicious ripe fruit aromas (cherry, currant, strawberry). On the palate, this wine is round with beautifully soft tannins and a wealth of ripe fruit. A full flavor of cherry, raspberry, strawberry, and currant.

Ripasso is made using a special winemaking technique that adds color, strength, and flavor to the "regular" fresh, light Valpolicella. The young Valpolicella wine, along with the skins of the dried grapes used for Amarone, undergoes a short secondary fermentation. During this process, colors, aromas, and flavors are extracted from the unpressed grape skins and added to the Valpolicella, making the wine fuller, richer, and more robust. This Ripasso has a fresher style and is lower in alcohol (13.5%) than many others, making it more accessible and less heavy even in its younger years.

The wine goes well with grilled meat, stew and red meat.
