Description
Château Pichon Baron-Longueville has existed since 1694. Château Pichon Baron, Second Grand Cru Classé in 1855, is one of the historic vineyards of Bordeaux. A strict selection policy, in the vineyard and in the cellars, guarantees the elaboration of the Grand Vin, Château Pichon Baron, which represents the pure expression of this unique terroir.
The Les Griffons de Pichon Baron 2020 is a blend of 50% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot. It ages for approx. 18 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new. This label represents 25% of the total harvest. Colored deep purple-black, it brims with the uninhibited scents of crushed black plums, ripe boysenberries and black cherry preserves, leading to nuances of ground cloves, licorice and rose oil. The medium-bodied palate is packed with juicy black fruits and a smooth texture, delivering just enough freshness to lift the long, energetic finish. Price-quality perfect and of all wine critics the wine has received well over 90 points while this is 255 of the price of the big brother the Pichon Longueville

Château Pichon Baron
Pauillac Les Griffons de Pichon Baron 2020
Juicy, ripe and focused, with a delicious core of cassis and damson plum notes that mingle well, flanked by a hint of singed cedar and carried by floral and iron notes through the finish. Lovely. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Best from 2024 through 2036. 6,400 cases made.

From: Thrice Is Nice: Bordeaux 2020 in Bottle (Feb 2023)
The 2020 Les Griffons de Pichon Baron contains the Petit Verdot that was previously blended with the Les Tourelles. This has an intense nose with graphite and chalk-tinged black fruit, touches of black olive compote emerging with time, all with wonderful delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm and saturated tannins, very pure, precise and poised. Gentle grip with a lively, citrus-fresh finish, and hints of blue fruit on the aftertaste.

The 2020 Les Griffons de Pichon Baron is a powerful, concentrated wine. Dark and sumptuous in the glass, with terrific textural intensity, Les Griffons exudes charm. Black cherry, espresso, licorice, cloves, chocolate and menthol infuse the 2020 with tons of character. All the elements are impeccably balanced throughout in this Pauillac from gravelly soils.
