Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 L'Eglise Clinet starts off a bit closed and somber, but soon unfolds to reveal powerful notes of baked black plums, chocolate-covered cherries and blueberry preserves, with hints of grilled meat, mocha and anise, plus a hint of tar. Medium to full bodied, the palate is a powerhouse of crisp, vibrant black fruit, framed by wonderfully ripe, rounded tannins and an abundance of freshness, with a long and savory finish.

ABOUT L'EGLISE CLINET

L'Eglise Clinet is a prestigious winery in the Pomerol appellation of Bordeaux, France. It is known for producing some of the most sought after and highly regarded wines in the world. The vineyards of L'Eglise Clinet cover approximately 4.2 hectares and are located on Pomerol's famous clay and gravel soils. These soils are ideal for growing Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the domain's main grape varieties. Also relevant to mention is that the vineyards of L'Eglise Clinet border those of Chateau Petrus, so where L'Eglise Clinet stops begins Petrus. L'Eglise Clinet is located in the heart of Pomerol, a small but highly renowned wine region on the right bank of the Dordogne River. The winery has a rich history dating back to the 19th century. The vineyard was formed in its current form in the mid-20th century by the Mauléon and Rouchut families.
