Pieropan

Pieropan is regarded worldwide as the benchmark for Soave Classico. Since the end of the nineteenth century, the family has been producing wines that set the standard for the appellation. Under the leadership of Leonildo Pieropan, the estate grew into one of the most influential wineries in Italy. His conviction that great white wines can age for decades forms the basis of the exclusive Vini dell'Anima Collection, in which time is considered an essential part of winemaking.

Vini dell'Anima Collection

The Vini dell'Anima Collection is a special project in which time is central. Each wine ages for more than ten years before being released. Not to make the wine older, but to allow it to fully come into its own. According to Pieropan, this collection reflects Leonildo Pieropan's vision that the greatest white wines only reveal their true personality after many years.

Calvarino

Calvarino is the historic vineyard with which Pieropan made a name for himself worldwide and is widely regarded as Italy's first official single-vineyard Soave. The vineyard is situated on volcanic soils rich in tufa and basalt and is planted with approximately 70% Garganega and 30% Trebbiano di Soave. This unique combination produces a wine with pronounced minerality, lively freshness, and exceptional aging potential.

Vinification and aging

The 2015 Calvarino was aged for more than ten years in Pieropan's characteristic concrete tulip-shaped tanks. This aging ensures that the wine develops extremely slowly, preserving freshness while simultaneously creating extra complexity. Only when the estate deems the wine to have reached its optimal expression is it bottled and released.

Scent, taste and character

The wine opens with a refined and mineral bouquet in which wet stone, sea salt, and flint are combined with green tea, chamomile, and spring flowers. Next, aromas of white peach, fresh citrus, and subtle spicy notes appear, beautifully reflecting the volcanic origin of the vineyard.

On the palate, Calvarino is crisp, dry, and extremely precise. The lively citrus acidity lends the wine impressive tension, while aging provides extra texture and depth. Flavors of ripe citrus, white stone fruit, floral nuances, and a pronounced briny minerality blend harmoniously. The long finish remains fresh, energetic, and particularly refined, with an impressive balance between power and elegance.
