Persoonlijke gegevens
The 2013 Les Jardins de Babylone is a rare and remarkable dessert wine from winemaker Didier Dagueneau, who was famous for his meticulous craftsmanship and in particular Sauvignon Blanc in Pouilly-Fumé. After his untimely death in 2008, his son Benjamin Dagueneau took over the winery, continuing his father's legacy.
Les Jardins de Babylone comes from a 3-hectare vineyard and is produced in the Jurançon appellation in southwestern France. This wine is made from Petit Manseng, a local white grape variety known for its ability to produce complex, sweet wines. The vineyard is farmed biodynamically and the winemaking process involves careful attention to detail, including extremely low yields and hand-harvesting of overripe grapes that have been affected by passerillage (a drying process that concentrates sugars and flavors).
Didier Dagueneau Les Jardins de Babylone is vinified by spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged in foudres specially made for Dagueneau for a minimum of 5 years.

Domaine Didier Dagueneau is located in Saint-Andelain which falls under the Pouilly-Fumé (dry white wine type with AOC classification). The area is characterized by the mainly flint clay soil, partly responsible for the characteristic taste of the wines from this area.
Since the death of the eponymous owner Didier Dagueneau in 2008, the winery has been run by Benjamin Dagueneau. His father Didier was known in the wine world for his great wines. His son Benjamin is at least as talented and continues to work passionately in the way his father did. Of course you can taste that in the fantastic wines that this winery produces. The real wine lovers certainly know the beautiful Pouilly-Fumés of Domaine Dagueneau. They are among the most sought after and the best Sauvignon Blanc wines and are on the menu of renowned restaurants.
