The Monte Dall'Ora Stropa Amarone della Valpolicella comes from the DOCG Amarone della Valpolicella and is a typical amraone blend of 50% corvina, 20% corvinone, 20% rondinella, 10% dindarella and molinara

After manual harvesting, the grapes are dried for three months. Fermentation and maturation in a 2500 liter foeders for 30 to 40 days with regular pigeage and pumping over. Subsequent maturation in 2500 liter foeders and in the bottle. The wine remains for at least three years in 2500 litre casks, then at least 30 months in bottle

The Monte Dall'Ora Stropa has a complex and intense nose with notes of (over)ripe plums, raisins, red berries, spices, and beautifully interwoven wood. In the mouth very powerful but digestible. Deliciously juicy (over)ripe fruit beautiful in balance with the wood and a soft long aftertaste

About Monte dall'Ora

Monte dall'Ora is an Italian winery located in the Valpolicella region, near the village of Castelrotto in the province of Verona, in northeastern Italy. This area is known for its prestigious wines, including the iconic Amarone della Valpolicella and Valpolicella wines. Monte dall'Ora is a relatively small winery that excels in the production of authentic and terroir-driven wines through passion and dedication to quality and sustainability.

History and philosophy

Monte dall'Ora was founded by Carlo Venturini and Alessandra Zantedeschi , who together have a clear vision for their vineyards and wine production. Since its foundation, they have been committed to organic and biodynamic farming methods, believing that this is the best way to maintain the natural balance of the vineyards and express the Valpolicella terroir in its purest form.

Vineyards and terroir

The vineyards of Monte dall'Ora are located on a sloping terrain with a subsoil of limestone and gravel, which are essential for drainage and the preservation of minerality in the grapes. They are located at different altitudes, which creates variations in microclimates that contribute to the diversity of the wines. Carlo and Alessandra work with native grape varieties such as Corvina , Corvinone , Rondinella and Oseleta , which are typical of the Valpolicella region.

Wine production

Monte dall'Ora prides itself on maintaining traditional wine-growing techniques, combined with biodynamic principles, where no chemical products are used. The harvest is done manually and only the best grapes are selected. The wines are produced in a natural way, with spontaneous fermentation by wild yeasts and minimal use of sulphites. This results in wines that purely reflect the character of the terroir and the grapes.

Wines

Monte dall'Ora produces a wide range of wines, but their main products are:

  • Valpolicella Classico : A fresh, fruity red wine, usually made from a blend of native grapes. It has notes of cherries, spices and a light minerality.
  • Amarone della Valpolicella : Their Amarone is made from partially dried grapes, which gives the wine its characteristic richness and concentration. It is a powerful wine with intense flavors of ripe fruit, spices, chocolate and a hint of tobacco.
  • Ripasso della Valpolicella : A wine made by re-fermenting Valpolicella wine on the skins of Amarone grapes, which gives it more depth and complexity in the flavour. It has notes of dark fruit and spices, with a supple structure .
