Description
The very rich Sauvignon Blanc grapes for the Du Toitskloof Winery Legacy Old Vine Sauvignon Blanc come from a single vineyard. As a result, this exciting wine retains a certain soil typicality. This wine comes from du Toitskloof's top series called the Legacy series. The wine is limited to 4,000-8,000 bottles worldwide, all individually numbered. The restrained wood structure gives the wine good structure without covering the typical Sauvignon notes. Aromas of Cape gooseberries, citrus and exotic fruits unfold in the glass. This special wine offers an exceptionally harmonious mouthfeel.Du Toitskloof Winery has its vineyard in Broad River Valley/Breedekloof. This 100% Sauvignon Blanc is hand-picked with a double selection. After fermentation, the wine matures for 6 months in French oak and then the wine is bottle-aged for at least 6 months. The Du Toitskloof Winery Legacy Old Vine Sauvignon Blanc has fantastic parameters such as a not too heavy alcohol percentage, a residual sugar of 2.6 g/l and a total acidity of 6.4 g/l. 6,500 of the 2022 Old Vine Saivignon Blanc are bottles are made and each bottle is numbered.

ABOUT DU TOITSKLOOF
Read more under the tab: Winery. Here you will also find some great videos and photos about this great area.
When the founders of Du Toitskloof Wines dreamed of their young, innovative winery, they knew the journey was as important as the destination. Du Toitskloof Wines was founded in 1962 by 6 winegrowers as a cooperative. The six visionaries bought 18 hectares of land from founder Visser de Wet and received the first grapes in February 1963. In the early years, Du Toitskloof Wines became known as a bulk wine producer, but after the winery began to focus on the bottled wine market in the early 1990s, they quickly built a reputation as a forward-thinking brand not only in the innovative viticultural disciplines introduced in the cellar, but in its commitment to social development as a Fairtrade producer. The winery builds on three principles; they believe in always delivering the highest quality product, consistently, without sacrificing ethics.
Du Toitskloof Wines source the majority of their grapes from the Breedekloof Valley, all within a 10km radius of the cellar. This ensures that all grapes share similar soil types and microclimates. With a large number of different terroirs, but with grapes grown along cool mountain slopes, in alluvial soils with high water holding capacity, as well as on sandy and rocky soils. Most vines are grafted onto Richter 99 and 101-14 rootstocks and receive supplemental irrigation based on hydrometer readings. Leaf canopies are actively managed to ensure that the bunches are kept in the shade and out of direct sunlight. Grapes are picked when they have reached optimal physiological ripeness, which allows them to retain their intense color and flavor spectrum.
In hot summers, the vineyards are overshadowed early on by the high peaks of the Du Toitskloof Mountains, leading to slow ripening and intensity of flavors. White wines produce tropical aromas of guava, gooseberry, pineapple and lichi, while red wines produce fruity dark berries, cherries, blackcurrants.
