Description
Van Hamersveld Wines was founded when Cees van Hamersveld, owner of several high-quality restaurants and hotels, including the famous boutique hotel De Zwarte Boer, went in search of 'the ultimate glass of wine'. To do this, they fly all over the world to assemble these wines themselves. Always with farmers who work with respect for people and nature. The focus was on the vineyards Imbuko Winery in Wellington, South Africa and Domaine de Marotte in the Ventoux, France. A delicious and honest assortment of wines with an almost unprecedented good price/quality ratio.
This blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc complement each other perfectly. The Chenin Blanc immediately bursts out of the glass with ripe tones of stone fruit and is also clearly present in the attack. A few seconds later the Sauvignon Blanc shows itself with subtle acids and citrus fruit. a delicious fresh, fruity dry wine and not too high in alcohol which makes it a beautiful terrace wine or aperitif. The wine is sustainably grown and certified by the South African Wine and Spirit board (www.swsa.co.za) with the predicate "Integrity & Sustainabiliy"
The wine has been awarded double gold at the Chinese Wine & Spirit Awards.
Wine from Wellington
Constantia, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek are beautiful and are symbols of Cape wine growing. But the Cape Winelands also has a rougher, less touristy side. For that you have to head north, to the older vineyards in wards and outlying areas such as Wellington, Piekenierskloof and the magical Skurfberg. The reward: some of the best and most original South African wines. Once you get past Paarl, on the R44 or R45, you will notice it. The landscape changes slowly and is less densely populated. Although the city of Wellington has more than 50,000 inhabitants, the surrounding wine region is relatively quiet, also because it is much less touristy than for example Stellenbosch and Franschhoek.
