The Chenin Blanc Old Vines from Lievland Vineyards is made from grapes that come from vineyards in the Paarl region. After harvest, the grapes are immediately destemmed and pressed in the vinification cellar. The juice is cooled for about 24 hours, so that the coarser components can settle. After this, the clean juice is allowed to undergo alcoholic fermentation in a temperature-controlled manner (15°C) in stainless steel tanks. After 2 weeks, the young wine is partly transferred to clean stainless steel tanks and partly to used oak barriques, where specially selected yeasts are added. After several months of maturing, the wine is assembled, clarified, filtered and bottled.

The Chenin Blanc Old Vines from Lievland Vineyards is fresh and clear in the glass, light straw yellow in color. In the nose aromas of citrus fruit, melon, peach and something of beeswax. The taste palette shows notes of lemon peel, apple, pineapple and a hint of coconut and almonds, which are accompanied by a fresh aftertaste with beautiful acidity.

Riaan Möller - Head winemaker at Lievland: "South African wines are called wines from 'the new world', But with the long history of grape growing in the Cape, I think it's better to say that we find the perfect balance between new and old-fashioned styles. At Lievland Vineyards, we are fortunate to work with top-quality Stellenbosch terroir. We take classic varieties and make wines traditionally, striving for the perfect balance between old-fashioned elegance and bright fruit from the new world."
