Description
Pouilly-Fumé takes its name from Pouilly-sur-Loire, the heart of the AOC, and 'Fumé', literally 'smoked', referring to the local name of the sauvignon blanc, 'blanc fumé'. The term fumé here refers to the ash-gray color of the leaves of the sauvigon blanc. The Pouilly-Fumé wines are generally dry, fresh and balanced, floral and fruity, with a striking minerality in which 'silex' (flint) can often be recognised. The vines were planted in 1991 and Domaine Treuillet was founded four years later. Sébastien Treuillet's small estate in Tracy-sur-Loire is renowned for the purity and refinement of its wines.
Sébastien Treuillet bought 3.5 hectares in Tracy sur Loire and 0.35 in Pouilly. His Pouilly-Fumé is a textbook example of finesse and drinkability. Delicious, pure wines with a striking 'brilliance' and a drifting but not overpowering aroma. A feast for the taste buds. Because light, elegant and typical of the Sauvignon grape. A find, this mini-domain!
In the glass the wine has a pale straw yellow color with a wonderful open and exotic scent, smoky, a touch of grassiness, elderflowers, asparagus, flint, freshly mown grass. The taste is open, nice acidity and elegance, lots of freshness and juice, nervousness, minerality, tasty. Every effort is made here to preserve the purity of the fruit and the terroir. No tricks are used to force explosive aromas, but rather elegance and finesse have been chosen. It is therefore a widely applicable wine. Nevertheless, we can highly recommend it with lightly smoked fish or with fresh to semi-ripe goat cheese (chavignol, selles-sur-cher).
