Description
There have been more than 27 generations of the Jonquères d'Oriola family working as winegrowers since 1485. The family is inextricably linked to the vine, as well as equestrian sports. They grow 95 hectares of vines spread over several properties between the south of Perpignan and
Collioure in Roussillon (southern France)
The Gris-Gris from Vignobles Jonqueres d'Oriola is a wonderfully light rosé from the Côtes du Roussillon made mainly from Grenache Gris grapes (that's why a wine can be called Gris) with a addition of Syrah. The vineyards are on a soil with many rocks and limestone that give a nice minerality to the wine. Due to the warm temperatures in the south of France, the grapes are picked at night to prevent oxidation and the addition of a lot of sulphite is not necessary. The fermentation takes place at low temperatures with maturation on fine lees in tank (sur lie). In combination with hints of red fruit from small wild strawberries and currants, a delicious light rosé is created that can rightly be called a Provence killer. And that for half the price.

There have been more than 27 generations of the Jonquères d’Oriola family working as wine growers since 1485. Notoriety has come to this Catalan family by being awarded many Olympic and World Champion titles in both fencing and equestrian sports and this striving for excellence has also translated into the quality of its wines. Philippe and William Jonquères d’Oriola, father and son, have been working together over many years to further the wines of Château de Corneilla. Today William has taken up the reins at the château which is the family seat.
