Description
The Chardonnay R from Weingut Ökonomierat Rebholz is as pure as it is intense on the nose, with crushed or ground limestone coming to the fore rather than fruit aromas. Very exciting and very Rebholz in its precise, fresh and mineral style. Lush and perfectly delicate on the palate, with mandarin, crushed mussels and iodine aromas, this is a very elegant, refined and refined Chardonnay that breathes the ideas of Riesling. A touch of butter-caramel, but also so many fresh notes of herbs and snow peas. Very creamy and silky, but with a feeling of weightlessness that is far from the norm for this grape variety. Lush and very refined, with a refined texture this is an impressively stimulating and fine Chardonnay. Very distinctive.

From different vineyards on calcareous soils and vinified in French barriques, the 2021 Chardonnay offers a pure, fresh and flinty as well as intense and rich, finely oaky but also saline bouquet of ripe fruits and cracknel. Round, lush and elegant on the palate, it has ripe and intense fruit and saline acidity that carries this very attractive Chardonnay to a very good finish. This is a medium to full-bodied, elegant and refreshing Chardonnay on a pretty high level. There is fine grip and mineral tension on the saline and stimulating aftertaste. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in November 2022.

Although this youthful chardonnay has plenty of candied-lemon, apple-peel and toasted-baguette character, it is still tightly wound, the healthy tannins giving it a firm mouthfeel and a long, structured finish. Really needs some more time in the bottle to fully harmonize. From biodynamically grown grapes with Respekt certification. Drinkable now, but best from 2023.
