Description
Van Hamersveld Wines was created because Cees van Hamersveld, as owner of several high-quality restaurants and hotels, including the famous boutique hotel De Zwarte Boer, went looking for 'the ultimate glass of wine'. To do this, people fly across the world to assemble these wines themselves. Always with farmers who work with respect for people and nature. The focus was on the vineyards of Imbuko Winery in Wellington, South Africa and Domaine de Marotte in Ventoux, France. A delicious and honest range of wines with an almost unprecedented good price/quality ratio.
The Van Hamersveld Henriëtte is a blend of Viognier and Chardonnay. This combination produces beautiful round notes, lots of ripe fruit such as ripe banana, mango, but also some white blossom. Wonderfully fresh with good acidity, which makes this wine a perfect aperitif, but also highly recommended with spicy food such as Thai food. Also delicious with sea bass baked in a salt crust. The wine has been awarded double gold at the Chinese Wine & Spirit Awards.
Wine from Wellington
Constantia, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek are beautiful and symbolize Cape wine growing. But the Cape Winelands also have a rougher, less touristy side. For that you have to go north, to the older vineyards in Wards and rural areas such as Wellington, Piekenierskloof and the magical Skurfberg. The reward: some of the best and most original South African wines. Once you pass Paarl, on the R44 or R45, you will already notice it. The landscape changes slowly and is less populated. Although the city of Wellington has more than 50,000 inhabitants, the surrounding wine region is quite quiet, also because it is much less touristy than, for example, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek.
