Description
The Pavillon de Léoville-Poyferré 2020 is a great second wine. Soft, silky tannins wrap around a core of dark cherries, plums, mocha, spices and new leather. Hints of blood orange and spice lift the finish nicely. All the characteristics of the Grand Vin come out nicely, but in a softer style.
In the heart of the Médoc, Château Léoville Poyferré has always been one of the most prestigious wineries. There was once a single domain named Léoville that was famous throughout the region. Throughout history, it has come into the possession of different families through heirs and major events. In 1865 the domain came into the hands of the bankers Baron d'Erlanger and Armand Lalande. They had to contend with setbacks in the form of phylloxera and mildew epidemics. Today the castle belongs to the Cuvelier family. They have invested enormously since the 1980s with extraordinary results. The château is today one of the top within Saint-Julien.
FACT: In the Tab: Appendix you will find the official fact sheet of this fine wine. We will automatically send it to you when you order this wine. It is worth mentioning that we buy the wines directly and never purchase them through the intermediary because we do not know what journeys the wine has made and how it has been treated. The wines come from the cellars of the Chateau directly into our conditioned Warehouse in Dordrecht where all our wines are stored. If you come to pick it up, you will often also receive a nice discount.

Sporting a deep garnet-purple color, the 2020 Pavillon de Léoville Poyferré is equally as bold and expressive at this youthful stage as its grand vin, leaping from the glass with pronounced Black Forest cake, boysenberries and blackcurrant pastilles scents, plus wafts of Indian spices and crushed rocks. The medium to full-bodied palate is coated with vibrant black fruits with a soft texture and just enough freshness, finishing on a fragrant earth note.

The 2020 Pavillon de Léoville-Poyferré is a terrific second wine. Plush, deep and expansive, the Pavillon will provide plenty of enjoyment right out of the gate. Soft, silky tannins wrap around a core of dark cherry, plum, mocha, spice and new leather. Hints of blood orange and spice lift the finish nicely. All of the signatures of the Grand Vin come through nicely, but in a softer style. This is pure and total seduction.
