Description
The Château Le Pape was purchased in 2012 by the owners of Ch. Haut Bailly (family Wilmers) and is located next to Ch Haut Bailly , with a beautiful terroir in Léognan. The vineyard, 9 hectares half a kilometer from Ch. Haut Bailly, contains more merlot 80%, which explains the soft and round style of the wine, together with a nice freshness. Ch Le Pape also benefits from the experience and expertise of the Ch. Haut Bailly and the harvest and vinification is done with the same attention to top quality.
Benefiting from the experience and expertise of the Château Haut-Bailly team, the Château Le Pape vineyard continued to flourish and then built its unique personality. The wines have gained depth and length, while retaining their characteristic freshness. The detailed work of the vineyard renovation - which has been ongoing since 2012 - has once again paid off in this vintage. Yield limitation, sustainable vineyard management and traditional tillage have encouraged the development of a deeper root structure, revealing the potential of the terroir and mitigating the effects of climate excess (a rainy spring followed by a dry summer). These methods allowed the vines to produce grapes with a higher concentration of phenolic and aromatic components. As a result, the wines become more and more structured and more and more elegant, with a delicious aftertaste.
The blend of Château Le Pape 2020 reveals voluptuous Merlots and is full of flavour. It is a structured and elegant wine with supple tannins. The blend of Château Le Pape 2020 is 80% Merlot & 20% Cabernet Sauvignon
