2020 Château Lafaurie Peyraguey Sauternes Premier Grand Cru Classé

Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey is a very old wine producing estate of 36 hectares. It is located in the heart of the Sauternes region just outside the village of Bommes. Maisons Rouges (part of Lafaurie-Peyraguey) was a Roman staging post and the oldest stones of the wall and entrance, believed to be the oldest structure in the commune of Bommes, dating from the 13th century. The richness of the remains and the archival material preserved at the castle testify to the rich heritage of Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey: eight centuries of history preserved! Wine has been made at this chateau since 1618.

The Lafaurie-Peyraguey is pale lemon-gold colored in the glass. In the nose it has graceful notes of lemon zest, candied ginger, honey and with some oxygen after rolling we also smell roasted almonds, orange blossom. On the palate this great and affordable wine is rich, spicy and oh so decadent on the palate with lots of sweet, unctuous layers with a delicious oiliness to the texture, and finishes long with a refreshing lift. Beautiful wine in which the freshness and sweetness balance each other excellently and this makes it a beautiful wine.
