Ook deze geweldige La Fabriseria onderschrijft weer de excellente stijl van wijnhuis Tedeschi, één van de allerbeste wijnhuizen uit de Valpolicella. Deze La Fabriseria is gemaakt van late oogst druiven van wijngaarden gelegen op zo’n 500 meter boven zeeniveau, met flink lage temperaturen in de nacht. De familie Tedeschi is beroemd om haar wijnen op basis van gedroogde druiven, en wilde ook in de droge rode wijnen op basis van druiven zonder enige vorm van droging en zonder Ripasso -het laten gisten op de schillen van gedroogde druiven- de absolute top te bereiken. De Rosso della Fabriseria is daar het resultaat van. Voor deze wijn zijn uitsluitend de allerbeste druiven van het domein gebruikt. De inheemse Corvina heeft het grootste aandeel in deze bijzondere wijn. Deze druif is aangevuld met Rondinella en een scheutje Cabernet-Sauvignon, voor de stevigheid. Rijping op eikenhouten vaten van verschillende formaten vormde de afronding van het werk.
De Tedeschi La Fabriseria Valpolicella Classico Superiore is een geweldige wijn, mooi robijnrood van kleur, met aroma's van intens kersenfruit, confiture, pruimen, vanille en bloemen. In de mond een rijke, complexe smaak met veel fruit en sap (kersen, bramen), mooie levendige zuren, een fijn bittertje, krentjes, met lichte tannines. Deze wijn is heerlijk rijp en goed in balans. 92/100 Suckling en 92+ Vinous.
Deze La Fabriseria smaakt uitstekend bij wildgerechten (haas, ree) en andere mooie vleesgerechten zoals entrecote. Ook heerlijk bij een (dessert met) kaasplank.

The 2019 Valpolicella Superiore La Fabriseria is a total pleasure on the nose, with an opulent blend of crushed black cherries complemented by cinnamon, clove and cocoa. This is silky and supple, with vibrant acidity that further enlivens its ripe red fruits and inner spice. The 2019 tapers off with amazing length but also freshness, leaving a subtle tug of fine tannins as raspberry and licorice hints slowly fade. This is a real crowd-pleaser.

The Tedeschi family farms 48 hectares of vineyards dedicated to Valpolicella and Amarone. This portfolio is designed around terroir first, focused on single vineyard styles that allow them to produce five labels of Amarone and five brands of Valpolicella. Only the Rispasso stands on its own, as Sabrina Tedeschi calls it “A regional wine.” While most of Valpolicella is only now speaking about the importance of crus, the Tedeschi family has been working hard to establish them, going back to 1964, when the first bottle of Amarone Monte Olmi was released. The vineyards are situated between the Classico zone and the valleys to the east. During my most recent trip I visited the Marternigo vineyard, with its 33 hectares of vines and varying expositions that run along the ridgeline of two valleys. Here the elevation ranges from 280 to 420 meters, and the soils are morainic (meaning the result of glacial sediments). It was a fantastic site to see. All of the parcels planted within Marternigo are between thick outcroppings of forest, which, along with its high elevations, helps to balance the warm conditions of recent vintages. One can’t help but feel that these locations are the region’s future. My visit also included a selection of old vintages that showed how well the Tedeschi wines mature over time. This is a great portfolio to explore for readers looking to find a sense of place in Valpolicella.
