Château Doisy Védrines is gevestigd in het Franse plaatsje Barsac, een gemeente in het departement Gironde in de regio Graves. Château Doisy Védrines is een pracht domein uit de Sauternes. Het terroir bestaat uit klei met kobalt en kiezels. Het château heeft de wijngaard van 25 hectare aangeplant met Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc en Muscadelle en produceert uitsluitend witte wijnen. De wijnstokken zijn gemiddeld zo’n 40 jaar oud. De druiven worden handmatig geplukt en streng geselecteerd. De wijnmaker maakt gebruik van een zeer lange gisting zonder toevoegingen. De wijn is biologisch gecertificeerd en wordt voor minimaal 6 jaar opgevoed op Franse eiken vaten.
De Château Doisy-Védrines uit 1988, heeft een zeer bijzondere Barsac-neus met tonen van marmelade, gerstesuiker en een vleugje kweepeer, allemaal met een uitstekende definitie. De smaak is zeer soepel en harmonieus bij de ingang, een beetje laag in de zuurgraad, maar blijft samenhangend in de afdronk met een zekere mate van elegantie met vleugjes gedroogde abrikoos, vijg en marmelade. Het mist gewoon de complexiteit en precisie van de 1989, maar er zit een pittige, oranje gesneden marmelade in de afdronk. Dit is nog steeds een zeer fraaie Barsac uit 1988.

Tasted at the Doisy-Vedrines vertical at the chateau. This has a very Barsac nose with notes of marmalade, barley sugar and a touch of quince, all with excellent definition, although it probably lacks the vigour of the 1989 or 1990. The palate is very smooth and harmonious on the entry, a little low in acidity, but remains cohesive to the finish with a certain degree of elegance to it. Touch of dried apricot, fig and marmalade, although just lacking the complexity and precision of the 1989 on the finish. Tangy, orange cut marmalade on the aftertaste. Moderate length. Still a very fine 1988 Barsac. Tasted September 2008.

Château Doisy Védrines is located in the French town of Barsac, a commune in the Gironde department in the Graves region. Château Doisy Védrines is a beautiful domain from the Sauternes. The terroir consists of clay with cobalt and pebbles. The château has planted the 25 hectare vineyard with Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle and produces only white wines. The vines are about 40 years old on average.
The grapes are picked manually and selected rigorously. The winemaker uses a very long fermentation without additives. The wine is certified organic and is aged for at least 6 years in oak barrels
